New race track, new fears (for Dad) unlocked

This weekend we rolled into Florence Speedway (with the trailer this time) and got to work. Track delivered the goods from an layout perspective with two drag strips connected by u-turns. The corners were wide enough to give you options of where to run, and the corner entry speeds were enough to make one father more nervous than he's ever been at a race track. Overall Alex did his thing and got better and better each time hitting the track, even getting into a bit of a tank slapper coming through 1 and 2 before righting the ship and getting after it. Unfortunately a lap into the feature the nose wing decided it was not interested to stay with the program and started to come apart. Driver pulls in very frustrated because he thought we had got the setup adjustments correct and he was ready to take advantage. He said we need to loctite the crap out of those bolts when I pointed out the bolts didn't come loose... The rivets completely yanked out. "Oh... Wow." And that's racing, we're a very long ways from understanding all the different methods this car will use to dynamicly disassemble itself on the track, but we'll continue to work through them and get better.

Next week we're off for the first time this season, then we'll be displaying the car at the Michigan Motorsports Racing Association Driver's Experience Sunday leading up to our first Michigan race at Crystal Motor Speedway - Crystal, MI the 29th with Great Lakes Super Sprints!

Thanks as always to the Ohio Thunder IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series, as well as photographers Riehle Photography LLC and Morgan VC Photography for the great shots!
